Habitat ReStore – Grand Opening Planned for June 11, 2011

May 27, 2011

We are very pleased to announce that the relocated ReStore, at 1001 E. Maiden St. (the old FoodLand grocery store), will celebrate a Grand Opening on June 11, 2001.  The Maiden St. building provides bright and spacious area for displaying the items offered for sale.

Adequate and free parking is available.  The site is easily reached.  We have hundreds of  new items to offer for sale.  It is a win / win location for customers, donors of resalable goods and for Habitat Families.  In addition, we have recovered tons of items that would have been relegated to trash dumps.

We are now training new Volunteers to assist customers in the new location.  We invite you to apply to become a new Habitat ReStore Volunteer. If you would like to discuss Volunteer opportunities, call Linda Ferrell at 724-224340 x202.

Do you have household items you can donate for resale in our new building:  serviceable, useable appliances, furniture, construction materials, etc. ?  Please call Jared Kephart at 724-503-4416.

And please visit us at the new location !  You will be amazed at the transformation !

The present location at 54 W. Wheeling will close on Friday, May 27th at noon.

Volunteer Construction Dates

April 1, 2011

Saturday is the most popular Construction day of the week for Group and Individuals.  It is necessary for groups to register for a particular Saturday by calling the Volunteer Manager at 724-222-4340 x202 or email at: lferrell@habitatwashpa.org.   Individual Volunteers are welcome to join the group any Saturday but must contact Habitat to confirm the site for a particular date.  Week-day construction work is also available for groups and individuals but must be scheduled through the Volunteer office.

You are invited to work with us.  We appreciate your support and welcome any questions or comments.

Crew Leaders are a MUST

November 23, 2010

We are excited to be building two new homes and preparing the facility at 1001 Maiden to become the new location for the Habitat ReStore.  In order to have 2 or 3 crews of Volunteers working at the same time (mostly Saturdays), we need experienced and qualified Volunteers to take the lead at the construction site as CREW LEADER.

Reporting to our Staff Construction Manager, Crew Leaders understand the work to be accomplished and oversee the work of an assigned group of Volunteers.  Safety consciousness, assisting experienced and unexperienced Volunteers at the construction site and a friendly attitude are the mix of traits that we need.

CAN YOU HELP ?   Please contact the Volunteer Manager or the Construction Manager for more information at 724-222-4340 x202 or email  lferrell@habitatwashpa.org

Siemens Industry, Inc. lends hands at Arch Street

August 24, 2010

Employees of Siemens Industry, Inc. of Bridgeville spent a day helping to finish the roof and interior framing as well as  exterior insulation.  Working tirelessly in 90 degree temperatures, the Siemens Gang accomplished all work planned for that day and maintained a spirit of fun and dedication to the task at hand.

We are delighted with the progress made and thank each Siemens employee for their hard work.

Advantage Sales and Marketing / Pepsico offers help

August 17, 2010

On August 10th, eight members of the Advantage Sales and Marketing / Pepsico sales force helped to erect the supports for the roof at Arch Street.  A ferociously hot day did not deter the determination and camaraderie of this group.  We are very grateful for their help and hope that although this is the first time for the group to Volunteer at Habitat, it will not be the last time we have an opportunity to work with them.

Thanks, New Friends !

Crown Castle Volunteers are Awesome !

August 5, 2010

We are honored and thrilled with the dedicated efforts from employees at Crown Castle, Southpointe, who Volunteered at the Arch Street home and at the new site for the ReStore during the month of July and ending with a group on August 5th.

The hard work and willing attitude from 61 Crown Castle employees helped frame the new ReStore building and frame and erect the outside walls of the Arch Street home.

Take a bow, Crown Castle !  You have given us a tremendous boost !

Email Scam – don’t fall for it !

August 5, 2010

We have been alerted by an email recipient that a message entitled,  “Part Time Job”, offering fund raising employment by Habitat International, is in the email pipeline.  I verified with Habitat International that this is a bogus solicitation.

Please do not be fooled by this email.  It is not legitimate and certainly does not reflect the integrity or principles of Habitat for Humanity.
